Facility Overview

Space

1102 GRAND offers a wide array of colocation options including private 1/3 cabinets (14 rack units), 1/2 cabinets (21 rack units), full cabinets (42 rack units), custom sized private caged spaces, and tens of thousands of square feet available for larger build outs up to 7000 contiguous square feet.

Power

These days, when it comes to data centers and colocation, power is the name of the game, and we have over 5 megawatts currently feeding 1102 GRAND via two separate electric utility feeds with automatic transfer switching, redundant UPS infrastructure, and Caterpillar diesel generator backup for our tenants. All of our UPS and generators are on a preventive maintenance contract and are tested on a scheduled basis, and we never oversubscribe our backup power infrastructure. Even better, the cost of power is very reasonable compared to other markets and 1102 GRAND has a low risk of brownouts and blackouts thanks to efficient and well- designed energy delivery infrastructure systems inside and outside of the building. In fact, our electric utility (Kansas City Power & Light) is routinely named the most reliable electric utility company in the region and has even been named the most reliable electric utility in the nation.

Cooling

Data centers and colocation facilities obviously need adequate and reliable cooling too, and you can rest assured that we have you covered. All colocation rooms built and managed by 1102 GRAND are designed to at least N+1 redundancy specifications so that we keep customer gear cool even if computer room air conditioners (CRACs) fail or need to be serviced. More so, all of our Liebert CRACs are under maintenance contracts and are maintained on a preventative maintenance basis to maximize uptime. In addition to our two cooling towers, we have designed a system allowing us to regulate water directly from the city to maintain the appropriate cooling loop temperature even if the cooling towers fail. We even have an additional layer of redundancy should our water supply from the city source cease to be available (water main break, etc.) via a contract with a water tanker company; we are considered a first response customer in the event of an emergency.

Voice and Data Connectivity

1102 GRAND is known as a carrier hotel and serves as the neutral internet hub for our region. Many of the world’s largest carriers along with a very respectable group of alternate carriers and service providers are in our Meet Me Room and ready to serve your network needs. As a carrier or network neutral facility, tenants get to work directly with the carriers and providers of their choosing and negotiate the best pricing possible. Connect with one provider or design a custom multi-homed solution, and then optionally utilize the Meet Me Room to interconnect with other customers to trade services, sell services, or even connect to one of the peering fabrics located in the building. Be sure to view our continually expanding carrier and service provider list for more details.

Access Control

Physical access at 1102 GRAND is controlled by a card access system, and secure spaces are protected by multi-factor access control elements. In addition, we have cameras throughout the facility and store video both on and off-site for a minimum of 30 – 60 days.
